Asian blepharoplasty (double eyelid surgery) changes the shape of the eyelids to enlarge the size of the eyes and creates more space between the lashes and the upper eyelid by removing excess skin from the lid. This intervention can also rejuvenate aging eyelids.
Thanks to this surgery, there is no need to wear false eyelashes or to use glue on the lids or tape to open the eyes.
It is also possible to remove the fold of skin in the inner corner of the eye, near the nose. This operation is called epicanthoplasty. When required, epicanthoplasty is performed at the same time as blepharoplasty, but it can also be done at a separate time.
Intervention
The surgery, which takes 45 to 90 minutes, is generally performed under local anaesthesia. Many patients opt for having Asian rhinoplasty at the same time in order to better define the face and eyes.
Convalescence
- To reduce swelling, it will be recommended to keep the head elevated at a 30º angle at all times for 2 weeks (it will be necessary to sleep in a semi-upright position). The application of artificial tears will also provide some relief.
- A postoperative appointment will take place 5 to 10 days after the surgery.
- You can return to work 1 week after the surgery (2 weeks for people working with the public).
- Wait 3 weeks before engaging in cardiovascular activities, 4 weeks for sports activities and 6 weeks for contact sports.
